Exercises to do when you're stuck indoors
Staying active whether due to lockdown or other reasons is important! While home-based exercises might not be able to completely replace your original outdoors or gym-based fitness routine, they're oftentimes still very useful! A few of our favorites include:
Yoga
Yoga has something for everyone, whether beginners or experts. In addition to strengthening the body (as well as improving flexibility!), Yoga is generally known for helping calm the mind. Good beginner options might include Tadasana (Mountain pose), Salabhasana (Locust pose) or Vrikshasana (Tree pose).
HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)
Tabata is probably one of the most commonly known forms of HIIT exercise! There are countless different workouts you can easily do at home, with or without simple equipment like free weights or resistance bands. These are readily available via Youtube, or online fitness classes!
Resistance Training
Even without large stationary equipment found in gyms, strength training can still be done at home fairly easily! Squats, push-ups, curls, leg-raises, crunches... are all examples of resistance training, and you can further up the difficulty with inexpensive resistance bands!
Virtual Workouts
If you don't know where to start, there are plenty of free (and paid) fitness apps available, many of which are easy to follow along, and help you establish a good workout habit, before you start formulating your own customized routine. Quantify your progress using Oserio's body composition scales! If you're just worried about keeping the pounds off, body fat scales are a more economical option. For more advanced users, we'd recommend a body composition scale, particularly our newer wireless transmission models that can send results directly to a smartphone, making it easy to track results.
