Protein and your diet

Why is protein important in your diet?

Many of us know the importance of counting calories or sugar intake. But consuming sufficient protein is also important for powering our bodies. Crucially, our bodies don't really store protein! As such, daily protein intake is key to keeping your cells in good shape.

What does the body use protein for?

1) Building: Protein is an important building block for bones and muscle
2) Repairing: Protein is used by the body to build and repair tissue
3) Oxygenation: Red blood cells contain protein that carry oxygen throughout the body, which helps supply the body with needed nutrients
4) Digestion: Protein is used to create digestive enzymes, which aid in effective food digestion, which is crucial for producing new cells.
